Broken Hearts, Better Days Covenant

An exerpt from the Broken Hearts, Better Days covenant:

“Here, we share our experience, strength, and hope in order to support each other and work together in addressing the grief we all share. We have but one purpose: to provide support, comfort, and assistance to those who have lost a loved one has the result of a violent crime.

Members of Broken Hearts, Better Days come from all walks of life. We are the mothers, grandmothers, wives, sisters, daughters, aunts, nieces, cousins, and friends of someone who has been murdered. No matter what the relationship to the victim, we share a common bond.

In these meetings, you will probably hear things that will strike a chord. Our circumstances are different, our stories are true and not open to comparison; through sharing our experiences and stories, we will be able to identify with the ways each of us have been affected by the tragic losses in our lives. We do not offer advice, but share our experience, strength, and hope so that we may learn from the successes of each other in managing this immeasurable and monumental pain that we are each experiencing.

We share in this meeting with the expectation for anonymity.

Who you see here, What you hear here, When you leave here, Let it stay here.

The promise of anonymity fosters a sense of security, allows for free expression, protects the identity of all members, provides a safe place in which to share and grow, and assures equality and trust between members, new and experienced."

Vigils for Healing is open to starting additional support groups, such as one for men or young people. If you would like to help start an additional support group or participate in one, contact us.
