How You Can Help

Vigils for Healing welcomes your involvement and appreciates your interest. Below are some ways you can contribute.

Vigils for Healing: Attend a vigil. These are short public interfaith observances are held outdoors at or near the murder site. Families comment upon the healing power of having others stand with them at their loved one's vigil. To learn more about the dates of vigils, visit the Vigils and Events page. To receive email invitations to vigils, Contact Us.

Hands Without Guns: Help us present our Hands Without Guns children's gun-safety activity at local events. Elementary and middle school children read a short pledge to never touch a real gun, then paint their hands and add their colorful handprints to a keepsake cloth banner. Contact Us to add your name to our list of possible volunteers.

Broken Hearts, Better Days: Come to Broken Hearts, Better Days, a support group for anyone who mourns the violent death of a loved one. The group meets the last Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m.

Prayer Shawl and Throw: Participate in the Prawer Shawl and Throw ministry. Knit or crochet a shawl or throw while praying, meditating, chanting or anything you are moved to do for the recipient?s healing. Send us your shawl or throw (or arrange for us to pick it up if you are in the Winston-Salem area) and we will present it to a grieving family at their Vigil for Healing.

Vigils for Healing Clergy Team: Clergy of all faiths can volunteer and will be welcomed. For more information, Contact Us
